MTA BOARD NOMINEES WANTED

     October 1997 - The deadline for filing candidate applications for 3 anticipated vacancies on the MTA Board of Directors is January 5, 1998.
     Applications are available at Rec. Center 3. Call 623-7300 for information or to request an application by mail.


CHURCH WELCOMES NEW PASTOR

     October 1997 - Twenty-seven year old James Shiroma is the new pastor at the Mililani Mauka Baptist Mission. Shiroma is a graduate of Hawaii Baptist Academy. Church members currently meet at Rec. Center VI on Sundays from 8:15am. A new church is being built & completion is scheduled for next year.


MHS MARCHING BAND RECIEVES $1,000 DONATION

     October 1997 - Castle & Cooke Homes donated $1,000 to the Mililani High School marching band, to help pay for the band's trip to the Tournament of Roses parade on New Year's Day.
     Castle & Cooke Vice President Harry Saunders presented a $1,000 check to MHS principal Robert Ginlack & band directors Bryan Hirata, Curtis Hiyane & Fred Murphy.


FLU VACCINATIONS AVAILABLE

     October 1997 - Flu vaccinations will be available at Longs Town Center on Oct. 25, 9am - 1pm. Call ASK-2000 for more information.


SEXUAL ABUSE FORUM SCHEDULED

    October 1997 - A forum on sexual assault prevention will be held at 7:30pm Oct. 29 at Recreation Center III on Kaloapau St.
  The forum will include speakers from the Sex Abuse Treatment Center & HPD.


ANTI-DRUG PROGRAM HONORS MILILANI COMPANY

    October 1997 - Castle & Cooke Homes was recently honored by the anti-drug program D.A.R.E.
  The Mililani company recently organized a NFL clinic & several fun runs, to raise money for D.A.R.E., which encourages students to avoid drugs.

     MHS GRADUATES GETTING THEIR KICKS IN COLORADO

     October 1997 - Four MHS alumni are starters on the Northern Colorado University's women's soccer team, & led their team to the North Central Colorado Conference Championship.
     The MHS alumni are Jackie Pang ('96), Jan Yomogida ('96), Loren Sumida ('96), & Megan Inouye ('97).


HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCES SENIOR LUAU & OTHER MEETINGS

     October 1997 - The Senior Class luau will be on Nov. 8 at the Honolulu Country Club from 5:30pm to 10:30pm.
     A meeting to discuss financial aid for college-bound students & their parents will be held on Nov. 13 at 7pm at the school.
     The library will be the site of a SCBM council meeting to discuss the proposed year-round school calendar. The public is invited. For more information, call 627-7747, ext. 269.


ELECTRIC LINES & H-1 ZIPPER LANE TO BE DISCUSSED

     October 1997 - On Thursday Oct. 22 at 7:30pm at Rec. Center III, the Mililani Neighborhood Board will hear reponses to HEI's proposed overhead transmission line (from Kamoku to Pukele).
     LOTMA executive director Darryln Bunda will also give a presentation on possible uses of the planned "zipper" lane to ease H-1 town-bound traffic from Central & Leeward Oahu.


MOBILE SATELLITE CITY HALL SERVICES MILILANI

     October 1997 - For those who can't visit the Satellite City Hall at 330 N. Cane St. in Wahiawa, a mobile City Hall is available at the Town Center every Monday from 8;30am to 3:30pm. Call 623-8431 for more information.


BUILDING DEDICATED AT MILILANI SCHOOL

    October 1997 - A new administrative building was recently dedicated at Millani Uka Elementary School.
  The new building includes office space for counselors & meeting rooms for students & parent network organizations.
